A better whole foods diet, a little more exercise – healthy living is easier if you can break it down into small steps. Try these simple weight loss and exercise tips:
Walking: Walking is a great place to start if you want to burn some calories! Regardless of the weather, you can do laps in the mall. Not willing to drive in the lousy weather? You can try YouTube, the local library or Amazon for exercise videos.
Go Slow: You don’t need to do a diet slash-and-burn. If you cut just 200 calories a day you’ll see slow (and easy) weight loss. Small changes really add up. Foregoing the bread basket is one change that will save you calories and help your health. White flour has no nutritional value and causes a sharp rise in blood sugar, making you prone to gaining belly fat.
Start Small: Banning junk food from the cupboards or boosting fiber may be your goal, but think baby steps. Substitutions are a better solution so that you don’t feel deprived. Switch from potato chips to black bean chips (Beanitos, for example). You still get the salty crunch you crave, plus added fiber!
Just Show Up: Don’t feel like working out today? Lay out your workout clothes the night before so you are mentally prepared. Studies show that once you put your workout clothes on, you’re likely to be more motivated and ready to go!
