Keys to Reducing Cognitive Decline

As we age, protecting brain health becomes increasingly important for decreasing the risk of dementia and other cognitive diseases.

While genetics play a role in conditions like dementia, research shows that lifestyle factors significantly influence cognitive health and can help reduce the risk of decline.

The most effective and sustainable way to support your brain is with a holistic lifestyle approach.

Here are four simple, yet impactful habits to incorporate at any age.

1. Eat a plant-rich diet.

Prioritizing nutrient-dense, plant-based foods can help boost metabolism and digestion, prevent inflammation, and foster better health overall.

2. Move your body

It’s important to get in daily exercise. Aim for 45 to 60 minutes, including both aerobic and strength training.

3. Prioritize sleep

As important as movement and diet are, quality sleep has the biggest impact on your overall health. Experts recommend getting at least seven to eight hours of high-quality sleep per night.

4. Manage your stress

While building healthy habits like incorporating movement, a healthy diet, and restorative sleep into your lifestyle can help you to lead a less stressful life, making time for meditation and other restorative practices, like yoga, breathwork, and Reiki is also worthwhile.

Remember, small daily choices add up. Planning and committing to habits that support your healthy living goals will help you feel your best, and I’m here to support you every step of the way.
