This recipe includes frozen blueberries, which are not only rich in fiber, but they are also cancer-protective. Blueberries contain anthocyanins and ellagic acid, compounds that are being studied for their ability to inhibit the formation of carcinogens.

Food is medicine!

Ingredients:
1/2 cup frozen unsweetened blueberries (preferably organic) (do not thaw)
1 cup unsweetened non-dairy milk of your choice
1/4 – 1/2 frozen banana
1/2 tsp. pure vanilla extract 

Makes 1 serving

Directions
Place all the ingredients into a blender.
Cover securely and blend for 30 to 35 seconds or until thick and smooth. For thinner smoothies, add less non-dairy milk; for thicker smoothies, add more frozen fruit or a few ice cubes.
Pour into a glass and serve immediately. If you like a sweeter smoothie, you can add stevia, honey or maple syrup to taste.
